When I was a teen I rode the bus past a building in San Francisco that was nondescript until you looked up and saw mystical symbols in relief on the side. This was my introduction to the imagery of the Odd Fellows. Been stuck on it ever since. This is a riff on it for a transom window. If it was proper symbolism it would have 7 stars and be the all-seeing eye of god, but well… it’s not.
Toen ik een tiener was, reed ik met de bus langs een gebouw in San Francisco dat er heel onopvallend uitzag, totdat je omhoog keek en mystieke symbolen in reliëf op de zijkant zag. Dit was mijn eerste kennismaking met de beeldtaal van de Odd Fellows. Ik zit er sindsdien aan vast. Dit is een variatie erop voor een bovenlicht. Als het de juiste symboliek was, zou het 7 sterren hebben en het alziende oog van God voorstellen, maar ja… dat is het niet.
